It looks like Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2022 is getting a full support cycle and then some. According to a new report from Bloomberg, 2023 will be the first time in almost two decades that a new Call of Duty title will not release. A new game is still set to release this Fall from Infinity Ward, which is a sequel to Call of Duty Modern Warfare (2019). This new report is pretty surprising considering that Call of Duty is their biggest yearly release, even for the worst-rated games in the series.

Instead of a full-fledged release, they’ll be making a free-to-play online title releasing next year. Treyarch, who normally does the Black Ops games, will help with the free-to-play game.

Activision was recently acquired by Microsoft in one of the biggest gaming deals ever made. The company made sure to say that Call of Duty would remain multi-platform.
