A while back in 2013, Michael B. Jordan revealed that he auditioned for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but didn’t get the part. Now, in a recent interview for IndieWire, Jordan revealed the how and why. Apparently, it was bad. Very bad. Jordan actually mentions that it was probably his “worst audition to date”. When the actor himself says it was bad, you know it’s almost certainly to be true.

Star Wars: How and Why Michael B. Jordan Bombed

Probably for the best, considering how the rest of the trilogy went.

According to Michael B. Jordan, he bombed his Star Wars: The Force Awakens audition because of one thing: the script. Not just his script, but the scripts for the audition in general. Jordan revealed that the scripts were “super vague”, and there was never anything specific about the events because Disney and Lucasfilm were trying their level best to avoid spoilers. Thus, Jordan couldn’t connect to the character he was auditioning for. Jordan never reveals exactly which character he was auditioning for, but well, we can guess.

Now imagine Michael B. Jordan’s face here instead of John Boyega’s.

Michael B. Jordan’s exact words on the subject of his Star Wars: The Force Awakens audition were:

I think it was I couldn’t wrap my brain around some of the sides because you know when you’re reading for these high-level projects, there’s never really any specificity in the sides. Everything’s like super vague; everything is in secret. Reading through, I just couldn’t connect it. I definitely bombed that one for sure.

Conclusion

Michael B. Jordan revealed that the reason he bombed his Star Wars: The Force Awakens audition was because the script was too vague for him to connect to his Star Wars character. To tell you the truth, it might’ve been a good thing on Jordan’s part given how the rest of the Sequel Trilogy went. It might’ve affected how he did for his Creed films, or any of his other films for that matter.
