Four Takeaways From DC FanDome

DC FanDome proved why DC still has a lot to offer fans.

The online event showed that while the Marvel Cinematic Universe may have dominated the positive receptivity to the superhero landscape, there’s still a lot of reason to have hope, overall, in the DC Extended Universe.

Below are four takeaways from DC FanDome.

1) Zack Snyder’s Justice League holds a ton of promise given clips seen at DC FanDome.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League promises to be great. It’s great to see Darkseid. And the final line in the trailer released at DC FanDome from Bruce Wayne is incredible and emotion-stirring: “He’s never fought us, not us united.” (And Ben Affleck acts it well.)

I’ve said that there is reason to not get excited for Zack Snyder’s Justice League based on Snyder’s track record directing films, but the trailer offered a lot of new footage that leaves reason to be pumped about the alternative version of the final installment of a new trilogy in Man of Steel, Batman v Superman and Justice League.

I went to Justice League at midnight and have seen it multiple times, so I’m sure that I’ll love Zack Snyder’s Justice League even more and am confident in that after seeing the trailer.

2) The Wonder Woman 1984 trailer seen through DC FanDome looks exciting.

It’s great to see Cheetah (Kristen Wiig) at work in the trailer resulting from DC FanDome. I will go to the film as I planned on doing all along. (In fact, I’ll probably go to Wonder Woman at a local theater, which is showing previously released films, tomorrow.)

3) There is reason to believe that The Suicide Squad will be awesome.

First, James Gunn, the same guy who has delivered the Guardians of the Galaxy films, is at the helm. Then he said that he has not enjoyed making a film as much as The Suicide Squad. And we’ve seen that Margot Robbie playing Harley Quinn is a success.

4) I don’t have a lot of love for The Batman.

I’m not ready for another Batman. We’ve had two in only the last eight years. I only like Star Wars more than Batman in pop culture, but let’s give it a rest.

Batman’s suit looks lame in the trailer released at the event. Also, the trailer resulting from DC FanDome didn’t leave me excited for the film.

At nine years old, Alysha wrote stories about Han Solo & Princess Leia's son Ben Solo, so she's waiting for Disney to pay up! Alysha wrote "'Star Wars' Is Still Intact: Re-finding Yourself in the Age of Trump." Her bylines have been seen in Screen Rant, Bleacher Report, USA TODAY, several times in Patch, and many times in The Good Men Project. She also was a screenwriter for the theatrical feature "Before Your Time" and has seen firsthand the bias of rural media.
