in yet another bout of Blumhouse snapping up a horror movie with an idea that you wish you’d thought of, they released images from Totally Killer. The film comes out on Prime Video just in time for Halloween season. It stars Kiernan Shipka, Olivia Holt, Julie Bowen, and Randall Park. Nahnatchka Khan is directing a script from Jen D’Angelo based on an original script from David Matalon and Sasha Perl-Raver.
The film follows Jamie (Shipka), whose mom was terrorized in the 1980’s by the Sweet Sixteen Killer. The masked maniac murdered a group of girls in 1987. Through the help of her friend Amelia, Jamie travels back in time to the ’80s and teams up with the teen version of her mom (Holt) to try and stop the killer.
It also stars Lochlyn Munro, Charlie Gillespie, Stephi Chin-Salvo, Anna Diaz, Jeremy Monn-Njasgnar, Troy Leigh-Anne Johnson, Ella Choi, Kelcey Mawema, Liana Liberato, Nathaniel Appiah, and Jonathan Potts.
Nahnatchka Khan had this to say about the film.
“The idea of a horror-comedy time travel movie is, I’m gonna be honest, something I never thought of in my life. So when I was approached by the amazing creatives at Blumhouse and Amazon about Totally Killer, it was just so unique and exciting I had to be involved. And then add this incredible cast on top of that? Everybody get readyyyyyyy,”
It hits Prime Video on October 6th, 2023. It’s rated “R” for “Bloody violence, language, sexual material, and teen drug/alcohol use.”
