Ben Affleck’s Batman is getting his Joker. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Suicide Squad star Jared Leto will play the Joker in the additional photography for Zack Snyder’s Justice League.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League is getting more than just a new cut of the film. It’s getting an additional budget allocation. Many speculated that this was just for regularly scheduled reshoots. This is not the case. The production is undergoing reshoots for the upcoming Snyder Cut. Jared Leto famously didn’t appear in the version of Justice League that we got. So it’s pretty surprising news to see that he’ll be making an appearance in the upcoming director’s cut.

Leto’s Joker Did Not Have The Best Start

Jared Leto’s journey as the Joker has been bumpy to say the least. When his casting was first announced, many were excited as he was hot off just winning an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Fan opinion of Leto as the Joker waned quickly. After the reveal of his costume for the film, there was a tremendous backlash. Leto reportedly filmed hours of footage for Suicide Squad, but his portrayal of Mr. J is in the film for around 10 minutes. Fans have long speculated what his full performance would look like, and they will now get the chance in Zack Snyder’s Justice League.

With these new reveals of a director’s cut of Justice League, now people want to see a David Ayer version of Suicide Squad. With Leto returning, those rumors seem all the more possible.

Leto joins Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Ray Fisher, and Gal Gadot in the reshoots. Zack Snyder’s Justice League is directed by Zack Snyder. It debuts on HBO Max sometime in 2021.
